Dr. Timothy Carey

Doctor of Osteopathy


Dr. Carey attended medical school at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM). He completed hisOrthopedic residency through the United States Army at Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center at Fort Gordon, GA. During that time Dr. Carey also studied pediatric surgery at Scottish Rite Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia and orthopedic trauma at University of South Carolina.

Jennifer Malcolm, DO

Board Certified Primary Care Sports Medicine Physician


Dr. Malcolm is double board certified in allopathic and osteopathic Family Medicine with a certificate of added qualification in Sports Medicine. Dr. Malcolm attended medical school at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM) and in addition to her studies volunteered at a hospital in Mombasa, Kenya during that time. She completed her Family Medicine residency in Augusta, Georgia during which time she was awarded the prestigious American Medical Society of Sports Medicine Resident of the Year Award and Georgia Academy of Family Practice Resident of the Year Award among 6 additional awards.

Neal Everson, DO

Doctor of Osteopathy


Dr. Everson is excited to join McKinley Orthopedics and Sports Medicine in providing exceptional orthopedic care to the people of interior Alaska. He has an interest in Sports Medicine including ACL reconstruction, knee and shoulder arthroscopy, robotic total joint surgery, minimally invasive surgical techniques, cartilage restoration, and platelet and stem cell therapy for various injuries and ailments. He also enjoys treating patients of all ages from the young to the elderly. He firmly believes that surgery be reserved for those that fail other nonoperative care and enjoys seeing patients heal with and without surgery. He performs total joint replacements, surgery for orthopedic trauma, hand surgery and arthroscopic procedures of the shoulder, hip and knee. He operates at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital and The Surgery Center of Fairbanks.

Samantha Smith

Certified Physician Assistant


Samantha is a board-certified Physician Assistant and board-certified Athletic Trainer. She attended Towson University in Maryland where she earned a Master's degree in Physician Assistant studies. She completed her orthopedic training under the guidance of various physicians at Union Memorial Hospital and at Towson Orthopedic Associates in the greater Baltimore area. Prior to her acceptance into the Physician Assistant program, Samantha worked as a certified Athletic Trainer for Towson Sports Medicine. In this setting, she provided orthopedic care to the 600 athletes of Towson High School and served as the physician extender for an orthopedic surgeon at Towson Orthopedic Associates. She earned her bachelor's degree in 2015 in dual studies in Athletic Training and Biomedical Science at Lynchburg College in Lynchburg, Virginia. Samantha has been trained orthopedically to treat patients both in the office and to assist in the surgical setting. She enjoys treating patients of all ages and specializes in treating the athletic population.
